Good old days…

That makes it sound as I’m very old, and I’m not really :D

The things is I popped an old CD in the car stereo, with a bunch songs that were hot on the dance floor some years ago :) That is mid 90’s to late 90’s.

Sat in my car listening to the songs, realized it was good  days back then. We had a lot fun. Not that I really would like to change from the life I live today, but it would surely be fun to get together again, if only for a night :) I’ve thought about that before, invite them all for a party, but maybe memories are best left alone. (truth is I’m not sure I want to reunite with all of them, and I’m not sure they’d wanna reunite with each others either)

Almost every weekend there was a party at someones place, most of the time we ended up down town at a place called Dublin’s, at least in the beginning. As the years went by the place to be changed, the group of friends stayed more or less constant, but that to did shift a bit over the years, adding some new people to the group.

Now that I think about it there were almost as if there were two groups for a while, where me and the boyfriend I had back then were the connection between them.

The “Dublin’s years” came first, right about when I got old enough to get into the pubs, that was when I was around 18-19 yrs old (that is a long time ago).

For a while there were more “staying at someones place having fun until we almost fall asleep” parties going on. Of course we hit the town then as well, but I can’t remember a specific place we always went to after Dublin’s. I know it at one point was a place named Asterix, when they first opened and it even survived one name- and ownership change, I just can’t remember what it was named after Asterix :) It was that place at first and later one called Liljan that was the place you knew you’d run into them.

I think the group mostly changed around the time when Dublin’s stopped being the place to be. Dunno why really, but fact is some from the original group of friends got lost along the way and new ones came along, at least in the party group.

Sadly I have little or no contact with most of them today, for various reasons, one of them being we grew older and formed new constellations in life I guess… I know a couple of them eventually got hooked up with each others and now have two children, at least that’s the latest I heard about them. I still have sporadic contact with a few over msn :D

It’s only my ex I got a close contact with today, oddly enough.

Heating out of order :(

The heating at work is out of order, leaving a rather cold environment for us to work in :(

Well with it being a warehouse, I guess heating is not really the priority, we only got a couple heating fans. The type normally used during construction to keep things above freezing point, one in each end of the warehouse, and none seem to work as intended :(

With temperatures dropping below freezing outside, temperatures around -5 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit), the inside temperature is also dropping, so far it has stayed above freezing point at least, lowest known temp is +6 degrees Celsius (42.8 degrees Fahrenheit). Since we don’t check the thermometer all that often it could easily be colder as well… Some times it even feels as though it is warmer outside then it is inside, especially while the sun is still up.

Oh well, hopefully we get to move into the new warehouse soon, we were supposed to have moved a couple months ago… The problem is the new warehouse is not yet finished, there’s a bit of construction work still going on there :/ But we have hopes it won’t be so much longer at least, when we were over to check last week we could see an end to the constructions :)

Luckily it’s not at home it’s out of order at least…

My weekend

We had a good deal of snow during the end of last week, and it is still here :( Even had to shovel the snow this time. Or rather my boyfriend did, I got away this time :) I’m pretty sure I’ll get my share of that before spring comes again though. :D

The first round of snow never stays they usually say, but this time, I’m not sure… Well technically it’s not the first snow, it’s the second time it’s snowed this winter, the first was barely countable as snowing though. I did get the winter tyres on at my car as well, my dear boyfriend saw to that on Friday evening.

Halloween passed with no “trick or treaters”, though we stacked up a bit on candy as we did expect at least the kids from next door to stop by… They didn’t. Their father who had drove them to a couple friends of the family that live a bit further away kind of forgot to stop by here with them, to close to home perhaps.

We did go up to the cemetery and light candles on mom and dads grave on Saturday, on “All hallows eve”. Up until a few years (maybe a bit more then a few though) we didn’t really have Halloween the same way as in US for instance, there was no trick or treat then, only a tribute to the loved ones that had passed away. Traditionally by tending to the grave, especially by lighting candles for their souls. It’s actually rather moving and peaceful to walk through the cometary after dark this day, with the candles on all graves.

We didn’t go there after dark this year though. I had a few friends and family coming over for some cake in the afternoon.

I had my birthday during weekend, on Sunday, but since I worked then the cake was eaten on Saturday. The years does pass by, rather unnoticed. I could easily skip the cake and all as well, but when I tried last year, my boyfriend said that was not an option. “On your birthday you should always have some cake at least”, he said :)

Here comes the snow…

The true Sign that the winter is on its way…

It didn’t staty long on the ground though, but for a while there was rather large snowflakes, and the lawn was partly painted white for a short time.

Don’t trust the technology alone

You got to use your own senses as well, the visual senses especially when driving. Read a funny newsarticle in one of our evening papers, I just have to share it with you :)

A polish man had been driving using his GPS, unfortunately his map was outdated, so he drove into a lake… There had been a road but about a year ago the valley the road passed through was flooded, by the local water company, to build a water reservoir.

I just have to wonder, how the hell do you miss a big lake? Also there were signs saying the road was closed, apparently he missed or ignored those as well.

PS. All in the car got away OK from the mishap.
